County Wage DisclaimerClose
A semi-annual sample survey of Texas employment and average hourly wage rates by occupation are collected for the State and metropolitan areas through a sample survey for unique industry groups. The Occupational Employment Statistics program is conducted through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Labor Market and Career Information Department develops statistical estimates of average hourly wage rates for selected counties. County estimates should be used only as a guide to approximate wage rates due to small area or sample size limitations. Additional information is available at the Bureau of Labor Statistics website: http://www.bls.gov/oes/home.htm. You may direct your questions to a TWC labor market information professional by calling 1-866-938-4444.

Compensation Summary

Total all occupations working in Texas Statewide can expect to earn a median cash salary of $28,621 or $13.76 per hour. The median wage is the 50th percentile wage estimate--50 percent of workers earn less than the median and 50 percent of workers earn more.

Half of the people in this job earn between $18,709 ($8.99 per hour) and $46,182 ($22.20 per hour) (i.e., between the 25th and 75th percentiles). An entry level worker can expect to earn $16,263 ($7.82 per hour) while an experienced worker can expect to earn $48,687 ($23.41 per hour)

Annual wages have been calculated by multiplying the hourly wage by a "year-round, full-time" hours figure of 2080 hours. For those occupations where there is not an hourly wage published, the annual wage has been directly calculated from the reported survey data.

These estimates are based on 71432 mail surveys of establishments in the area taken between October, 1999 and April, 2008 and have a relative standard error of 0.39%. The relative standard error (RSE) is a measure of the reliability of a survey statistic. The smaller the relative standard error, the more precise the estimate.
